Miniature solid phase extraction on a CombiPAL autosampler.
![]() |
Microextraction by packed sorbent (MEPS), is a relatively new, miniature sample preparation technique to extract semi-volatile polar and apolar organic com-pounds from aqueous samples and organic extracts. |
For the moment, primarily reversed phase interactions are being employed, although MEPS can also be equipped with silica-packed needles. In this respect, it is essential to consider MEPS as a miniaturized version of solid phase extraction (SPE).
MEPS is used both in combination with GC and HPLC, depending on the chemistry of the compounds that need to be analyzed.
Owing to the recent inclusion of MEPS into the CTC CombiPAL range of autosampler solutions, IS-X has initiated a thorough investigation of the technique. In the advent of this evaluation, we offer our customers the opportunity to evaluate the MEPS technique in our fully equipped MEPS laboratory.
